Our Story
Our Mission
The mission of Adelante Mujer, Inc. is to sponsor and promote programs dedicated to the inclusion of Latina students in pursuit of higher education, professional career growth, and cultural leadership development.
Herstory
Adelante Mujer, Inc. is a Colorado-registered nonprofit organization that began as a movement in 1979. This movement was designed to help Latina women gain entry and succeed in mainstream education, employment, and economic systems while retaining their cultural values. Leaders of this movement organized statewide bi-annual conferences that provided a forum where Latinas from diverse backgrounds could share their experiences and gain insights from experts in the areas of cultural leadership, education, employment, and job training.
Over the years, the conferences proved to be powerful motivating events for the thousands of women who have attended. Even more powerful were the results for the hundreds of women who learned about leadership by planning conferences. In addition to the conferences, Adelante Mujer, Inc. held events to recognize the efforts and strides being made by Latinas in education, training, business and other areas. The first Bi-annual Leadership Brunch was held in the spring of 1976 to honor Latinas.
In 1998, the founders of Adelante Mujer incorporated the organization as a nonprofit to ensure the continuation of this great movement—creating leadership opportunities and advancing the goals of Latinas in education, training, and employment.
Over the past 4o+ years, Adelante Mujer has remained committed to providing a forum to empower Latinas by sharing their experiences and learning from each other. In the future, Adelante Mujer will continue to provide workshops and other learning experiences to Latinas of all ages.

Honoring Our Roots
We want to honor our Founding Mothers and the history and heritage of the original logo of our organization. We value the symbolism and historical significance it holds to this day for Mujeres of our Chicana and Latina communities. As we continue to move Adelante, we recognize the importance of respecting and preserving the foundations on which this organization was built. We appreciate today's need to develop our digital presence and update visuals reflecting the values, growth, development, and success stemming from the hard work and dedication on whose shoulders we now stand.
